Our Program Pillars
Six integrated pillars driving ecological restoration, climate resilience, and community empowerment across Tanzania.
Ecosystem Restoration
We lead large-scale restoration of Tanzania's degraded forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Our science-based approach combines indigenous knowledge with modern reforestation techniques to rebuild biodiversity corridors and carbon sinks.
Key Activities
- Mass tree planting campaigns in degraded watersheds
- Wetland and mangrove rehabilitation
- Soil conservation and anti-erosion interventions
- Biodiversity monitoring and habitat restoration
- Nursery establishment and seedling production
Climate Education & Awareness
We build knowledge and capacity on climate change, environmental science, and sustainable practices through school programs, community workshops, and public campaigns that reach thousands of Tanzanians every year.
Key Activities
- Environmental curriculum support in schools
- Community climate change workshops
- Radio and social media awareness campaigns
- Farmer field schools on climate-smart agriculture
- Training of trainers for local educators
Community Empowerment
We co-design sustainable livelihood programs with communities — ensuring that environmental conservation directly benefits those who depend on natural resources, creating green enterprises and reducing poverty.
Key Activities
- Agroforestry and sustainable farming training
- Green enterprise development (honey, crafts, ecotourism)
- Women's environmental leadership groups
- Community conservation agreements
- Village natural resource management training
Research & Innovation
Our research unit generates evidence on ecosystem health, climate vulnerability, and the effectiveness of conservation interventions — informing both our own programs and Tanzania's broader environmental policy landscape.
Key Activities
- Forest carbon measurement and monitoring
- Climate vulnerability assessments in target communities
- Biodiversity surveys and ecological baseline studies
- Participatory action research with communities
- Publishing findings in accessible formats
Policy Advocacy
We engage with government, civil society, and the private sector to shape environmental policies that protect Tanzania's natural heritage and support communities on the frontlines of climate change.
Key Activities
- Stakeholder forums and policy dialogues
- Submissions to national environmental consultations
- Coalition building with other civil society organizations
- Local government engagement on land use planning
- International climate negotiations participation
Youth Engagement
Tanzania's youth are both most vulnerable to climate impacts and best positioned to lead the environmental solutions of tomorrow. We invest in building a generation of passionate, skilled environmental champions.
Key Activities
- School environmental clubs and competitions
- University internship and research partnerships
- Youth environmental leadership camps
- Green career pathway mentorship
- Student volunteer tree-planting programs
